Afridi was preparing yorker strategy
Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, one of the architects of the historic T20 World Cup win against India in the first match of the T20 World Cup, said his strategy to trouble the Indian top-order with quick inswing yorkers worked.
Shaheen, who bowled three overs for the first time in the powerplay, gave Pakistan a great start by taking two wickets in the first two overs. “I bowled three overs in the powerplay for the first time. The ball was spinning and the conditions helped. I tried to take early wickets and succeeded.
The 21-year-old Afridi dismissed Rohit Sharma leg before the fourth ball and sent KL Rahul to the pavilion in the second over. “My strength is to bowl yorkers with the new ball and that was our strategy which worked. I was sure I would get him out if he got the swing in the beginning.

After taking two wickets for 19 runs in three overs, he dismissed Virat Kohli in the death overs. “Babar Azam always believed in me,” Afridi said. The plan was that I would bowl the first over and then Imad Wasim would come. I wanted to give initial success to the team.
Regarding Virat’s wicket, he said, “I had planned to get Virat out but he is the number one player. There is no difference between Babar and his batting. I bowled him the same kind of ball I bowled to Babar in the nets. “The feeling of India being defeated in the World Cup is tremendous,” he said. This is special for the Pakistan team.
