Dubai: Pakistan captain Babar Azam has replaced England’s David Malan as the number one batsman in the latest batting list after scoring two consecutive half-centuries. He has reached the top for the sixth time in his career. He is currently the number one batsman in ODIs as well.

It is a matter of bravery that Babar Azam has scored 3 half-centuries in 4 T20 matches. That too when his mother was on ventilator during the India Pakistan match. In that match too Babar Azam scored 68 runs in 52 balls.

Babar Azam’s father revealed this through an Instagram post. He wrote that when Babar Azam’s mother was in the hospital and his surgery was going on, he went to watch the match so that Babar did not become weak on the field.

Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has moved up one place to 23rd in the list of batsmen in the ICC Men’s T20 rankings, while pacer Jasprit Bumrah has jumped 10 places to be ranked 24th.

The effect of England’s players’ excellent performance in the T20 World Cup was also seen in the rankings. Jos Buttler has moved up eight places to his career-best ranking of ninth, while Jason Roy has climbed five places to 14th.

Sri Lanka leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has taken the number one spot in the bowlers’ list for the first time in his career, taking three wickets each against South Africa and England. He replaces South Africa’s Tabrez Shamsi, who had been at the top since April.

Wrist spinners occupy the top four spots in the bowlers’ list. Hasranga and Shamsi are followed by Adil Rashid of England and Rashid Khan of Afghanistan. Among the fast bowlers, South Africa’s Anrich Norkia has jumped 18 places to seventh.

Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi has reached the top of the all-rounders’ list with 271 rating points on par with Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan. Hasranga is at the fourth position in this list.
