Dubai: Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah became the highest wicket-taker for India in this format after taking two wickets in the T20 World Cup against Scotland. He now has 64 wickets to his name. He got this credit by dismissing Mark Watt in the 18th over.

Earlier, the record for most T20 wickets for India was held by Yuzvendra Chahal who has taken 63 wickets in 49 matches. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has 55 wickets in 48 matches, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has 50 in 52 matches and Ravindra Jadeja in 54 matches. 43 wickets.

Today in the very first over, Jasprit Bumrah was hit by Scottish opener Munsi for a six off the last ball but he did not give up. He gave Team India the first success against Scotland and bowled Kyle Kotzer on the best ball.

Interestingly, Jasprit Bumrah also took the last wicket of Scotland after the first. He bowled Mark Watt, although Watt was quick in it, who showed his three wickets to Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets for 10 runs in just 3.4 overs.

Earlier in this T20 World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah had opened the account of India’s wickets. In the match against New Zealand on 31 October, Bumrah showed both the Kiwi openers the way to the pavilion.

So far he has taken 5 wickets for India in this T20 World Cup. India has to play the last match against Namibia on 8 November. Hopefully, in that match, he will take the figure of his wickets even further.

If possible, he can also play an important role in taking India to the semi-finals. But for that, India will have to wait for the New Zealand vs Afghanistan match to be held on Sunday. Only if Afghanistan beats New Zealand will India’s chances of playing the semi-finals be made.

Talking about the T20 rankings, Jasprit Bumrah is the 24th ranked bowler with 538 points.(webdunia desk)
